Volunteers at ONE CARE donate their time to provide essential Community Support Services throughout Huron and Perth County.
ONE CARE offers a wide range of essential services to improve quality of life of older adults and people with health challenges, as well as caregiver relief.

Volunteers Opportunities!
“Get Inspired, Get Involved”

Friendly Visiting
Volunteer visiting is a support program which matches a volunteer with a client who is isolated, lonely or could just use a friend. The client and volunteer meet on a one to one basis weekly either within the client’s home or by telephone.
Time Commitment: 1 hour per visit.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels Driver: Deliver Hot or Frozen meals to clients within the community.
Meals on Wheels Runner: Assists driver with the delivery of meals to clients.
Time Commitment: Meal Routes are approximately 1-2 hours.

Telephone Reassurance
Volunteers place telephone calls to clients to provide safety reassurance. Volunteers report back unanswered calls and any concerns.
Time Commitment: 2 hours for assigned days. Calls are made from the comfort of your home.

Volunteer Drivers
At this time, we are in urgent need for volunteer transportation drivers to help our clients get to essential medical appointments and social programs.
Volunteer Driver: Provides transportation to medical appointments, shopping, errands and social activities. Volunteer drivers must be between the age of 18-80.
Time Commitment: On-Call Basis – In Town trips average 1-2 hours. Out of Town trips average 2-4 hours.

Dining Program
Come join our Dining Program and be part of a great community atmosphere! Volunteers assist with setting up tables, serving hot meals and beverages and clean up.
Time Commitment: 2 hours on program day.

Exercise Instructor
Those with a passion for fitness are needed to lead hour-long Falls Prevention & Exercise classes. All training is provided by ONE CARE through the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging.
Time Commitment: 1 hour per class.

Blood Pressure Peer Educator
Volunteers are needed at CHAP sessions to measure and record client’s blood pressure and provide education based on their cardiovascular risk profile
Time Commitment: 2 hours per month.

Adult Day Program
Volunteers assist clients at our Adult Day Programs with recreational and social activities as well as serving snacks, beverages and lunch.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per day.

Special Events & Fundraising
Volunteers are utilized to supervise promotional displays and assist with fundraising events.
Time Commitment: Flexible – contribute during chosen events. Fundraising committee meets once/month.
